Invertebrate
roles in the Environment
Sponges- Home to small marine worms, shrimp, other animals.
Flatworms and Tapeworms- Parasitic, sometimes they kill their hosts.
Roundworms- Help to recycle nutrients back into the community that they are in. They are mostly decomposers.
Leeches- For many years leeches were used in medicine to cure problems ranging from obesity to nosebleeds. They are still used in medicine today, for instance, when a surgeon reattaches a severed body part, the leeches are used to clean up pooled blood, so the new blood can circulate.
Ticks- Parasitize and sometimes even kill animals and humans.
Bees- Help the reproduction of plants, by pollenating them when they feed on different flowers.
