CarnivoresRiver Otter: Lutra canadensis

The River Otter is a part of the park because soon it will also become a species that is threatened because the Otter is killed for use of it's fur. California has actually passed laws to protect this animal from over harvesting it's pelt.

The Otter is a carnivore because it feeds mainly on fish and small rodents just like your cat at home. if there is a lake near your house sit and observe the surroundings, you might just see this guy with his head out of the water or he/she is nesting in their burrow along the shore.
