Cost Analysis

Introducing new species to the Wildlife Center requires financial considerations.  Our advisory group is allotted 4,650 million (M) Vietnamese Dong for start-up costs (constructing the exhibits and sleeping quarters, etc.) and 350 M Dong for yearly maintenance costs (veterinary care, keeper salaries, animal food, exhibit maintenance, etc).  In American currency, $1=10,000 Dong and $100=1 M Dong.

As the Wildlife Center directors, we value the social attractiveness of the larger mammals, unfortunately, the cost of maintaining larger mammals is significantly greater than the maintenance of small mammals, herpetofauna, or birds.  Also, the cost of keeping animals that live in a different environment from Vietnam will be significantly greater, which is why we could not introduce penguins to the Wildlife Center.  We must be very meticulous with our recommendations, so we maintain financial stability while still benefiting the Center with a variety of species.
