The advantages of using ecosystems to target conservation instead of species alone are many. Ecosystems are very broad and have many species and organisms within the biodiversity. Some advantages to using an ecosystem such as the maritime forest is the diversity of species within the conservation area. Within the ecosystems, there is more information available such as habitats and the status of endangered and or threatened species.
Some important criteria for maintaining an ecosystem relies on what is growing and what will continue to help it grow in the cases of plants. In the case of animals what it is feeding on and how it lives, what it lives with are all important in knowing how to handle and care for an ecosystem.
These sea grasses are important because they help in the fight against erosion on the beaches. Without the sea grasses the sand would be able to blow away by wind or be taken away by the water. Most of the grasses are endangered or threatened so they are handled very carefully to make sure they prosper where they are located and can regerminate to help re-inflate the population. Most of the places the grasses are in conserved places anyway to help protect them.
